Nevada Regulators Hold Workshop on Skill Based Games

LAS VEGAS (AP) –

Nevada’s casino regulators are laying the groundwork for what could turn gambling halls into adult arcades to appeal to a younger generation of would-be gamblers.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board held its first workshop Wednesday morning to discuss necessary regulations to allow gambling devices that require skill to play.

Traditional slot machines are a game of chance.

The new regulations are mandated by the Nevada legislature which unanimously approved a state bill this year backed by the slot machine manufacturing industry.

The industry and regulators contemplated in-game purchases and connecting games to social media accounts during the workshop discussion. No votes were taken.

Another workshop will likely be held. The regulations would still need to be approved by the Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission.
