Pinnacle Entertainment CEO will open Southern Gaming Summit in Biloxi

BILOXI — Anthony Sanfilippo, CEO of Pinnacle Entertainment, will deliver the opening address at the Southern Gaming Summit on May 4 at the Coast Coliseum & Convention Center.

Activities for the annual event, which is combined with BingoWorld, will begin May 3 and the speakers, educational sessions and expo are on May 4-5.

This year’s conference will bring back popular additions from last year, which for the first time featured topics such as fantasy sports, a casino chefs’ roundtable followed by a cooking demonstration on the show floor and marketing to millennials.

Discussions on skill-based slots, new casino opportunities in the South, executive equality for women in the industry, and a chief financial officer view of spending are the new sessions this year.

“This year’s conference program again reflects why Southern Gaming Summit, which brings together top-level attendees serving the commercial, tribal and charitable gaming industries, has distinguished itself as the most important regional gaming event in our industry,” said Larry Gregory, executive director of Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association. The organization co-produces the event with BNP Media Gaming Group.

“Our goal, as always, is to help move gaming initiatives in a profitable and productive direction as our region continues to rebound and build positive momentum. We are confident that this year’s program will do just that,” Gregory said.

Plans for networking events for the summit also were announced Wednesday. On May 3, there will be a golf tournament at Grand Bear Golf Course, the Global Gaming Women’s Luncheon at Island View Casino and a welcome reception at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi. Golden Nugget Biloxi will host the opening party May 4.
