Poarch Creek to open expanded Montgomery casino

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is nearing completion of a $65 million upgrade to its casino in Montgomery, adding a five-story hotel and restaurants to one of its three Alabama gambling resorts.

An expanded gaming floor with 2,200 machines and the BB King’s Blues Club opens Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The hotel, with 123 rooms and an event center, will open in late December at the casino, which is being renamed Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Montgomery. The upscale Itta Bena Restaurant will also open in late December.

The casino expansion will create almost 250 jobs, according to a press release from Wind Creek Hospitality, which operates the tribe’s casinos, including Wind Creek Atmore and Wind Creek Wetumpka.
